Rotary Club of Slidell Northshore

Welcome to our website! We hope you find the Rotary Club of Slidell Northshore website to be informative and simple to use. Our motto for this year is "Make A Difference" to support Rotary International President D. K. Lee's motto "Make Dreams Real".

This year our club was selected as Rotary Club of the Year in the medium-size class by District 6840 Governor Greg Lier. The club also received a Presidential Citation and Star club recognition at the District Conference.

The two Rotary clubs in Slidell joined forces to participate in the District Conference's Food Fest & Talent Show. They presented a skit based on a popular Carol Burnett Show episode titled "Gone with the Gale". The club also provided a food booth offering soft drinks and ice cream.

If you are a visiting Rotarian, welcome to Slidell, Louisiana
We’d be delighted to have you join us at our weekly meeting. We meet every Tuesday morning from 7:30 until 8:30 at the Pinewood Country Club, 405 Country Club Blvd. Y’all come for your make-up meeting, bring a flag from your club (and get one of ours), and experience some of our Southern hospitality!

Our July 4th Slidell Heritage Festival started the 2008-2009 Rotary Year with a bang, featuring fireworks, bands, and food of all kinds. The event is a joint effort of both local Rotary clubs, the City of Slidell, and the Times-Picayune newspaper. Proceeds support local charities. Check out the Slidell Heritage Festival website.

On Saturday, October 11th, our club hosted its first ever Rotary Skeet Shoot at the Covey Rise Lodge in Husser, LA, north of Robert. The 4-man sporting clays competition included a barbecue and jambalaya dinner at the lodge, team awards, door prizes, and a shotgun raffle. There was also an area for 5-stand warm-up and 4-person flush competition. Event sponsorships and station sponsorships were available for the tournament.

The proceeds went toward our Olde Towne Slidell beautification project, a Rotary Clock, to celebrate our 25th anniversary as a chartered Rotary club. The clock displays the Rotary logo, is backlighted, and chimes on the quarter-hour. Our Silver Anniversary Celebration was held on March 27 with a celebration reception and the unveiling of the Rotary Clock on Second Street, in front of the Slidell Municipal Auditorium and across the street from the new City Hall complex.

The clock plaza was a joint endeavor between the Rotary club and the City of Slidell. Grants were also provided by the Leadership Slidell Northshore Alumni Association and Rotary District 6840 in the form of a District Simplified Grant.

The last major fundraiser of the Rotary year is our Seventeenth Annual Golf Classic on April 3, 2009. The event had over 120 golfers last year at Oak Harbor Golf Course and netted over $15,000 for charities and other worthy causes in the community. We will have a silent auction, door prizes, and awards.

We also have 50-50 raffles, sweet potato sales, and football pools during the year to generate revenue for our service projects.
